Making the Most of Your Covid Summer

It may be the strangest summer we’ve ever experienced here in Hartford, but Covid-19 has not canceled summer here. While everyone needs to keep safety and social distancing in mind, there are many things to do this summer in and around the Hartford area.

Summer Fun for Everyone

The East Hartford Public Library will be hosting virtual summer programming for all ages with activities ranging from a summer reading challenge to socially distanced bingo. People of all ages are welcome to participate. Our advice: don’t stay cooped up inside to read; find a park bench or spot on the grass and get some sunshine at the same time.

Virtual Theatre Camp for Kids

Playhouse on Park is proving that the show must go on, even if it has to be done virtually. They are offering Kids on Stage Online! virtual theatre camp programming. Session two starts in late July.

YMCA Downtown Hartford Day Camps Resume in August

The YMCA – with many precautions in place – has reopened. They will be offering a variety of day camps for kids of all ages throughout the summer. You can download the brochure here

Professional Development

To improve your professional status, the Russell Library will be offering a virtual job and career workshop to help you navigate the uncertainty of this time. Learn how to update your resume, how hiring is working during the pandemic, and how to position yourself to succeed.

Get to Know a Local Author

The Mark Twain House & Museum will host New York Times bestselling author Brad Thor in a conversation with local mystery writer Chris Knopf, author of the popular Sam Acquillo mystery series. This event is virtual and free, but donations are accepted.
