Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Style in Hartford

Whether you just want a great Irish feast or want a night out on the town, you can find it in Hartford. While the celebrations have been happening all month, it’s not too late to get it on the fun. Here’s what’s happening around Hartford for St. Patrick’s Day.

St. Patrick’s Day Parades

What is St. Patrick’s Day without a St. Patty’s Day parade? Hartford’s parade was fun, but there are several happening this week throughout the area.

38th Annual Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick's Day Parade – This parade takes place on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. Free admission. Parade begins at noon. Marchers begin and end the parade downtown at Harbor Yard, traveling up Broad Street to Fairfield.

10th Annual Essex Go Bragh Parade, Essex – This family-friendly Irish celebration takes place on March 21. It begins with a parade and ends with a grand festival. The fun begins at 10:30.

16th Annual Mystic Irish Parade – The historic Mystic Irish parade not only celebrates Irish culture but also includes a classic car show. The fun starts at 1 p.m. on March 22.

Greenwich St. Patrick’s Day Parade – Also on March 22, Greenwich kicks off their festivities at 2 p.m. The parade starts at Greenwich Town Hall and features Irish wolfhounds, pipe bands, marching bands, floats, horses, clowns.

Irish Dance

The Griffith Celtic Dance Company will host a St. Patrick’s Day Charity Celebration on March 17 benefitting Footwear with Care, a local nonprofit that provides durable footwear and medical screenings for homeless children and adults in Hartford. Dancers from the Griffith Academy of Dance will perform traditional and contemporary Irish dances.

Irish Performances

Acoustic KG, a performer who blends rock, R&B, hip-hop, and folk for sets will perform at Vaughan's Public House, 59 Pratt St, Hartford, featuring Chris Cirullo for a “St. Patty's Spectacular” on Tuesday March 17 at 7:30 p.m.

On March 20, Irish singer-songwriters The High Kings perform traditional Irish music. 8 p.m. at the Garde Arts Center in New London.

St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast

The 20th Annual Archbishop’s St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast will take place March 17 from 7:30 am - 9:00 am at the Connecticut Convention Center. Staff Sergeant (Ret.) Johnny “Joey” Jones will be the keynote speaker at the breakfast.
