Best Places to See Fireworks in Connecticut

Hartford

You can enjoy a firework display in Hartford at the Great River Park and Mortensen Riverfront Plaza on July 3rd. Bring a picnic, eat at the Riverfront Food Truck Festival, or even watch the fireworks from your boat.

Middlebury

Middlebury takes fireworks to another dimension with the “3-D Fireworks and Special Blast at the Beach” at Quassy Amusement Park on the 4th. The evening gets underway with a beach party and a DJ. Purchase a pair of special 3D glasses and enjoy the fireworks spectacle over Lake Quassapaug.

New Canaan

New Canaan hosts a celebration for the whole family on the 4th. The 39th annual “Town of New Canaan Family Fourth of July Celebration” will once again be held at Waveny Park. Events include picnics, kids’ games, and a large assortment of food trucks. Ice cream, water, and soda are for sale by the Family Fourth committee. Live music features “Mind the Gap” and “Town Band.” Fireworks to follow.

New Britain

New Britain Parks, Recreation, and Community Services will host “The Great American Boom” in Stanley Quarter Park on the 4th.

If you love baseball, the New Britain Bees will treat their fans to a firework display after the game wraps up with the Somerset Patriots.

Haddam

If you’d like a quieter evening, give RiverQuest’s “Search for the Fireworks” cruise a try. You’ll board a river cruiser on the 4th at Eagle Landing State Park and gently cruise the lower Connecticut River. Although RiverQuest doesn’t offer their own fireworks show, you’re bound to see the night sky light up with Independence Day celebrations as you cruise up and down the river.

New Haven

Visit East Rock Park on the 4th to enjoy New Haven’s annual Independence Day fireworks display. The official viewing area is at Wilbur Cross High School, but you’ll be able to enjoy the spectacle from anywhere you can get a good view of the monument on top of East Rock Park.
